Arthur N. Pearson, President and CEO
Arthur has been passionately involved with Outward Bound for over 30 years. His commitment to experiential education began during his undergraduate student days at Dartmouth College in the 1970’s. His passion became an avocation and profession in the 1980’s as an instructor, course director, and program director for Outward Bound.
Arthur transitioned his career to the energy industry in the early 1990’s after completing his MBA at the Harvard School of Business. He was instrumental in building a start-up company into a $300 million energy marketing enterprise and served as Vice President of a firm that provides data processing and revenue management services to energy retailers across the country.
Prior to joining Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center (TIOBEC) as President and CEO in 2005, Arthur remained committed to Outward Bound as a volunteer and trustee, serving as Chairman of the Board of the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School.
Julia Fitz-Randolph, Vice President, Development
Julia has been leading development efforts within the Outward Bound movement since 2004 and joined TIOBEC in 2006. Julia brings 30 years of increasing responsibilities for institutional advancement in the private, nonprofit, and public sectors with extensive experience in strategic planning, marketing/communications, partnership development, and campaign fundraising.
Julia’s career highlights include Vice President positions at State Street in Boston, The Children’s Hospital of Denver, CO, and serving as a consultant to not-for-profit clients throughout the country. Julia has been a life long advocate for women and children and is a founder of several innovative organizations committed to social change.
Julia is a graduate of the University of Denver and currently serves on the Education Committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Massachusetts Chapter.
Ed Gleichauf, CFO
Ed has been overseeing the financial management and investments of TIOBEC as Chief Financial Officer since 2004. Ed’s specific responsibilities include compliance with company business policies and procedures, federal and state fiscal management laws and regulations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principals. Ed provides leadership in budgeting and financial planning, and supervises the payroll, insurance, and auditing functions for the organization.
Prior to joining TIOBEC, Ed’s career spanned 25 years of corporate accounting analysis and controllership at Eastern Enterprises and Coastal Corporation. Ed received a BS in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
Paul Lamoureux, Vice President, Programs
Paul oversees all aspects of youth and adult programs including budgeting, planning, training, safety, staffing, partnerships, program evaluation, reporting, equipment, and logistics.
Paul has worked at TIOBEC since 2006 and has assumed increased responsibilities each successive season of program delivery. Prior to joining TIOBEC, Paul brings more than 10 years of professional wilderness education experience in addition to 10 years of marketing and public relations experience in the computer industry.
Paul is a graduate of the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and the Outdoor Leadership Program at Greenfield College, Greenfield, MA. Paul currently serves on the steering committee of the Boston Youth Environmental Network and is an avid hockey and baseball player and sea kayaker.
James Scully, COO
Since 2000 Jim has directed the day-to-day operations of TIOBEC and is responsible for managing all aspects of the supporting business units. Jim has over 20 years experience in hospitality management and prior to joining TIOBEC he was the General Manager of the Sheraton Framingham (MA) Hotel.
Jim graduated from Boston University with a BS Degree in Management. Jim coaches three youth sports teams each year, and is on the Advisory Council of Blue Hills Boy Scout Regional Council.
