| The Thompson Island ferry, the MV Outward Bound, leaves from EDIC Dock #10 in South Boston. There are several ways to get here, both by car and public transportation. Please note that the only available parking is in a public garage on Drydock Ave. Parking is not permitted at the dock. 
Driving Directions From South Station: Follow Summer Street to the Marine Industrial Park in South Boston. Take a left on to Drydock Avenue. Take a right at the "Thompson Island Ferry" sign. The dock is straight ahead. Please note that there is a public parking garage .25 miles down Drydock Ave on the left. From the West on I-90 (Mass Pike): - Take I-90 East to Exit 24A (South Station)
- Go straight onto Atlantic Avenue
- Turn right onto Summer Street.
- Follow Summer St. past the Convention Center
- Turn left at the Marine Industrial Park onto Drydock Ave.
- Turn right at the "Thompson Island Ferry" sign. Our dock is straight ahead.
- Parking is available in the parking garage .25 miles down Drydock Ave. on your left. Parking is not permitted at our dock.
From the North on I-93: - At Exit 20A, take ramp to South Station
- Follow ramp and turn left at the first set of lights onto Summer St. (South Station is on your right)
- Follow Summer Street past the Convention Center
- Turn left at the Marine Industrial Park onto Drydock Ave.
- Turn right at the "Thompson Island Ferry" sign. Our dock is straight ahead.
- Parking is available in the parking garage .25 miles down Drydock Ave. on your left. Parking is not permitted at our dock.
From the South on I-93:
- Take I-93 North to Exit 18
- At the second traffic signal, turn right onto the South Boston bypass road
- Take a right at the first traffic signal on Bypass Road onto Cypher Street
- Turn left onto D street to Summer Street
- Take a right onto Summer Street
- Turn left at the Marine Industrial Park onto Drydock Ave.
- Turn right at the "Thompson Island Ferry" sign. Our dock is straight ahead.
- Parking is available in the parking garage .25 miles down Drydock Ave. on your left. Parking is not permitted at our dock.
Exit the garage on the side facing the Boston Design Center and Drydock Avenue. Walk towards the water, past the front of the Design Center and turn right. Continue parallel to the chain link fence on your left and then turn left. You will see a small wooden sign for “Thompson Island Outward Bound” near two phone booths. Allow 10 minutes to walk back to the dock. Red Line Subway: - Take the Red Line to South Station
- From South Station, you can either walk (please refer to the directions above from South Station), take the Silver Line or you can take the MBTA bus #7.
Silver Line Bus Service: - Take the Silver Line Bus (underground) from South Station. The entrance is underground near the Red Line.
- Take the SL3 bus (Marine Industrial Park/CityPoint)
- Tell the driver you would like to get off at the stop on the corner of Harbor Ave. and Drydock Ave. It is next to the ‘Big Dig Diner’ and across from a ‘guard shack’ in the road.
- With the diner behind you, walk directly up a side road towards the channel (water). Our dock is about 100 yards straight ahead just past the red fencing that defines our ferry waiting area. You will see a small wooden sign for “Thompson Island Outward Bound” on a black fence near two phone booths.
- For reference, the Summer Street bridge which crosses the channel is visible and immediately to the right of our dock.
#7 Bus—Summer Street: - Board the #7 bus (Outbound, heading towards South Boston) on Summer Street outside of South Station.
- Tell the bus driver that you want to get off at the Summer Street/Drydock Ave./Marine Industrial Park stop.
- Once you have gotten off the bus, take a left and follow Drydock Ave. The dock is located at the first right on Drydock Ave.
