How You Can Help
The expedition to Thompson Island is the first time that many young people
have been away from home and out of the city. It is unlike anything they
have previously experienced and demands that they push themselves in new
and difficult ways.
Whether they are sailing on pulling boats, exploring the pristine salt
marsh, participating in community service projects, backpacking or climbing
the 60-foot alpine tower, students gain self-confidence and learn the skills
they need to succeed. They learn perseverance, teamwork, goal setting skills,
social and environmental responsibility. This would not be possible with
out the generous support of our donors!

Supporting the Mission
Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center creates positive and lasting
change by providing Outward Bound expeditions for young people, adults and
organizations. Leveraging the island as a resource and Outward Bound core
values, we partner with individuals, schools and communities to provide
transformational experiences that teach compassion, teamwork, leadership,
social and environmental responsibility.
We are committed to making opportunities for participation in Thompson
Island programs available to disadvantaged youth, especially those from
the city of Boston and Boston Public Schools. We rely on the support of
foundations, corporations and individuals to make this possible.
Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center Inc. is an independent
and locally supported 501(c) (3) not for profit educational organization
located on Thompson Island in the Boston Harbor. Thompson Island is steeped
in a rich history of educational programming dating back to 1833. You will
provide transformational experiences for young people who would not be able
to participate in Thompson Island expeditions without your support.
