Thompson Island Outward Bound: Support—Impact

The Impact

Supporting Thompson Island Outward Bound means giving all students opportunities to learn about themselves in the most powerful of ways—by “doing.” A boy who climbs our 60-foot Alpine Tower realizes that he shouldn’t fear anything—even an academic exam like the MCAS. A girl who sails and lives with nine other girls on a tiny boat in Boston Harbor taps into her own mental toughness and the power of teamwork.

Below, our students share some of what their Outward Bound experiences have meant to them.

Summer Expeditions

“My Connecting with Courage experience has made me grow in a lot of ways. Another one is that Courage is to take a risk, if you don’t take risks in life you haven’t lived.”
