YOUTH MULTI-EXPEDITIONS

Boston Harbor Sea Kayaking and Climbing

On this 12-day course join 9 new friends and your instructors on a sea kayak adventure in the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. You will explore by day in your tandem sea-kayak and camp by night on an island in the park. Learn kayak paddling and safety skills with camping and cooking skills. Work together as a team. Challenge yourself as you climb the 62' Alpine Tower on Thompson Island. Students learn environmental stewardship from their experiences as well as interactions with National Park Rangers and participate in service projects.

A course for 12 – 13 year old girls.
Connecting with Courage is a course that helps empower girls while developing a strong sense of self. You'll to share ideas, challenge yourself both physically and mentally, express your emotions, speak your mind and build self-confidence.

Passages®
A course for 12 – 13 year old boys
Passages is a special kind of program for boys that combines adventure and learning new skills with teamwork and independence. You’ll be on the waters of Boston Harbor, sea kayaking in the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. This 12-day course also includes climbing on Thompson Island's Challenge Course. There willl be 9 other guys with you as you sea kayak.

Boston Harbor Sailing and Climbing

On this 12-day course join 10 new friends and your instructors on a 30' pulling boat for an adventure in the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. You will explore islands throughout the harbor and sleep on your boat. Learn navigation and seamanship skills. Work together as a team. Challenge yourself as you climb the 62' Alpine Tower on Thompson Island. Students learn environmental stewardship from their experiences as well as interactions with National Park Rangers and participate in service projects.

Passages is a course that helps boys develop compassion and confidence while learning to work collaboratively to solve problems. Working together as a team, boys develop leadership and teambuilding skills.

Environmental Expeditions
A coed course for 14 – 17 year olds
This exciting expedition has a sailing and marine ecology focus. You and 10 other co-ed students will be trained in the fundamentals of seamanship including chart reading, navigation and sail theory. You’ll learn to set up tarps, handle an oar, read a compass, cook afloat, and set anchor. You’ll spend 14 days exploring miles of Massachusetts Bay, from the Boston Harbor Islands to the shores of Cape Ann. Challenge yourself on the 62' Alpine Tower on the Thompson Island Challenge Course. Students learn environmental stewardship, visit the Maritime Heritage Center in Gloucester, whale watch with an interpretive naturalist, and explore the ecology and natural history of Massachusetts Bay.
