Summer Expeditions
Registration Information

Application Fee
All participants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee, which reserves a space for up to 60 days before the start date. It does not count toward tuition.

Tuition
Call 617-328-3900 x142 or x144 for tuition information or download the 2008 course dates and tuition information in PDF format. Tuition includes all equipment, food and transportation while on course. Tuition does not include the application fee or the physical exam. Outward Bound strives to bring together students from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds, and full and partial scholarships are available. See below for more information about financial aid.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Courses fill early. Apply as soon as possible.

Enrollment Packet
Upon receipt of a completed application, we will mail you an enrollment packet, which includes a medical form, clothing list, course description, payment schedule and other important information. Acceptance depends on approval of your completed medical form.

Refund and Cancellation Policy
The application fee is non-refundable.

If a student cancels for any reason before the start of the course, the amount of tuition refunded will vary based on the following schedule:

  • 60 days or more—100% tuition refund
  • 30 to 59 days—50% tuition refund; forfeited tuition is transferable to another course at Thompson Island Outward Bound scheduled to operate within one year from original course date
  • 15 to 29 days—25% refund of tuition; forfeited tuition is transferable to another course at Thompson Island Outward Bound scheduled to operate within one year from original course date
  • fewer than 15 days—no refund of tuition; no transfer of tuition

Should Thompson Island Outward Bound reject an applicant for medical reasons, all monies paid, with the exception of the application fee, will be refunded. A refund for medical rejection is conditional on all enrollment forms having been returned by the indicated due dates.

Thompson Island Outward Bound cannot make exceptions to any of its stated policies for any reason, including personal emergencies, weather or illness. In the unlikely event that we must cancel a course, all tuition and fees will be fully refunded. We will not be responsible for any other costs including travel, medical fees or clothing.

Financial Aid
Thompson Island strives to provide extraordinary, empowering experiences to all youth, regardless of their ability to pay. Generous individuals, corporations and foundations provide funds so that we may offer scholarships or reduced tuition to those in need.

We administer financial aid on a first-come first-served basis as determined by need. To apply for financial aid, check the appropriate box on your application and complete the financial aid form. We will inform you of your status in writing shortly after reviewing your completed application and application fee.
