The 2012 Gala Expedition was an evening to remember!
With the sounds of the students, supporters, volunteers, and friends of Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center, the Boston Seaport Hotel came alive as if it were Thompson Island.
Guests were inspired by Principal Teresa Harvey-Jackson of Marshall Elementary School and the video featuring our Summer Connections program and generously raised their paddles during the auction – making this year’s Gala one of our most successful!
Thank you to our Sponsors, numerous volunteers and student ambassadors for making our April 12th Gala extraordinary!
We would also like to recognize the North Star award recipient, Brown Rudnick LLP and the Brown Rudnick Center for the Public Interest, for their philanthropic contributions, advocacy and volunteerism in support of inner-city education of Boston youth.
To learn more about Thompson Island’s programs please visit our Youth Programs page.
Over the past decade, the Evening Expedition has raised $2.8M for Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center. This investment has enabled us to provide 132,500 youth with the opportunity to visit our island classroom to build self-confidence, develop trust for each other, learn teamwork and become more engaged learners. And in those ten years, the organization has grown and changed to meet the needs of today’s students – in addition to traditional expedition-based learning, over 4,500 students are now engaged in science-based outdoor education each year. Don’t you wish your middle school science lab had been in a salt marsh?
