Youth Programs

We have been serving the youth of greater metropolitan Boston for more than 20 years. We are stewards of Thompson Island in the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area and our 204-acre campus is the Island Classroom of the Boston Harbor Islands. Our program offerings include:

Summer Expeditions offer a variety of courses for 12-17 year olds:

Connecting with Courage®

Connecting with Courage is a course designed specifically to empower 12 and 13-year old girls to develop a healthy sense of self. Sailing and sea-kayaking in Boston Harbor and visits to the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area.

Passages®

Passages is a course for 12 and 13-year old boys that encourages teamwork and compassion. Sailing and sea-kayaking in Boston Harbor and visits to the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area.

Environmental Expeditions

Environmental Expeditions is a sailing course with marine ecology focus, coed, ages 14-17. Sail in a 30' pulling boat through Boston Harbor and Massachusetts Bay to Cape Ann in Gloucester.

Connections

Connections is designed to ignite a love of learning in students in Boston's public middle schools. The program uses both character development and academics to connect the school experience with challenging field work in the Boston Harbor Islands and on Thompson Island. This program is delivered in partnership with the National Park Service.

Green Corps

Green Corps is a summer jobs and work force readiness program focused on exposing students to the burgeoning 'green collar' job market. Developed in partnership with the National Park Service, the City of Boston, and Thompson Island Outward Bound, Green Corps hires students ages 14 to 17.

School and Community Youth Groups

School and Community Youth Groups offer one and multi-day Outward Bound teambuilding and leadership programs and our environmental education program in partnership with the National Park Service.
